Opto-Electronics and Optical-Communication research programme is an interdisciplinary M.Tech programme jointly offered by Department of Electrical Engineering and Department of Physics The programme was established in 1980 and is a source of pride producing the world class Opto-Engineers. The programme enjoys a very special status in the country and has produced the top professionals in this field. |

The main objective of the programme is to generate trained professionals in the area of Opto-Electronics and Optical-Communication with a strong background in both Engineering and Science and aims to achieve excellence in technology by interacting with the industry and providing the best facilities. The balanced but rigorous program ensures complete coverage of core courses along with providing large range of optional courses. |
The programme also attracts several sponsored candidates from industry and defense organizations. Students from previous batches are today occupying key positions in a variety of industries and R & D organizations involved in the area of telecommunication, networks, semiconductor technology, fiber and integrated optics, software and services, manufacturer of optical equipments, solution in optical networking and services. |
